Missing and Murdered indigenous women

The numbers are inconceivable and alarming. Indigenous women are murdered at a rate 10 times higher than any other ethnicity and it's the third leading cause of death for Native American women (Centers for Disease Control). Red is the official color of the #MMIW campaign, not only because of it's association with a call to action, but also because of it's deep and emotionally significant value. In various tribes, red is believed to be the only color spirits see. It is hoped that by the wearing of red, the spirits of these missing and murdered women, children and two-spirits may be called back to their loved ones so they may be properly laid to rest.

Vildekind, in solidarity of the #MMIW awareness campaign, will therefore be donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these items to Native Women's Wilderness, a grass-roots organization dedicated to empowering native women, children and two-spirits through outdoor exploration and is an important activist in creating #MMIW awareness.
